season 5

The fifth season revolves around the fight to stop Lucifer and save the world from the Apocalypse. Throughout the season, after Sam and Dean learn that Dean is the true vessel of the archangel Micheal. And Sam was Lucifer vessel. The brothers battle both angels and demons as they fight their destiny to become the vessel of both Micheal and Lucifer.

Lucifer

While Castiel helps them out and also searches earth for God. They were unable to defeat Lucifer, even with the Colt. After learning that god won't help, they collect the rings of the four horseman of the Apocalypse, which acts as the keys to Lucifer's cage. It is to put him back in the cell thanks to the info from the trickster who turn out to be youngest brother of Lucifer and Micheal the archangel Gabriel and hel from the Demon Crowley.

 They continue forward until the end. Castiel rebels against Heaven for Dean in this season. Even after Lucifer was able to possess his true vessel, Sam's love for his brother Dean allowed Sam to regain control of his body and seal himself ,Lucifer ,Micheal and Adam Miligan(John's other son after an affair)brother of Sam and Dean , into the Lucifer's Cage.

LUCIFER

Lucifer also kwon as The devil or satan, is a fallen archangel. He is the former ruler of Hell and the creater of demons seen by them as a father figure. As the second born archangel , he is the younger brother of Micheal and the older brother of Raphael and Gabriel. According to Gabriel ,he was God's favorite celestial, but when God asked for all angel to bow down to humanity, Lucifer refused. He waged a war against God but was banished to hell by Michael. All of the yellow eye demon's action were motivated with the goal of eventually releasing Lucifer.
